I think this is about not dwelling on those things that I wish I'd never done. If I deny the mistakes you've made, I won't learn from them and you won't achieve anything. There's nothing wrong with aiming high (chasing rainbows) and if I don't try and realise my full potential, I'll just be left with regret and I'll 'never realise' what I could be.
